1500 points Tau Vs 1500 Chaos Space Marines.

Dan won the roll off and took the side where his cup of tea was. I watched him set up, then set up my Tau with the Firewarriors in reserve. (if I use Pathfinders the Firewarriors walk on right into their transport) Deployment was reasonably ok but I balls up with the Pathfinders who never actually shot all game.
I rolled to seize initiative, and won! time to shoot things!
Objectives are the white marker in between the Nurgle Marines and there is another one underneath my Devilfish ^^
Dan's turn 4 in action |
In return Dan immobilized the north Hammerhead with his Obiliterators, with the other unit claiming a Fireknive Crisis Suit.
I had a unit of Kroot playing hide and seek in the trees at point D, the other Kroot unit pushed to the area just south of that to deny the spawn and Plague Rhino from advancing. In Turn 2 the Broadside team take down the Defiler who was camped at point C, and the Commander and his Fireknife buddies pop the Plague Rhino with their Missile Pods who also loose a guy in the explosion.
North Hammerhead tried to wipe out the Bezerkers with Burst Cannons and a submunition round but it could only take down 3. The Daemon Prince had been hiding between points A and C and he sneaked up the north board edge.
With combined fire, the out of cover Kroot get whittled down to 3. They run back but happily regroup on the next turn.
The Pathfinders decide they want nothing to do with the Berzerkers or the Daemons about to come and decide to head south as quick as possible.
For reserves, both of Dans Daemon units come on (too early for what he wanted as he wanted to be further across the board) They make nice targets as they end up being in the open, the north ones are able to run south a little bit, the ones with the Plague Marines can only move 1 inch to spread out (pretty much exactly what I wanted!)
The Bezerkers assault the Hammerhead, destroy its burst cannons and then pop it like a bubble. Its a drawn combat really as I take out one of his guys in the ensuing 5 inch explosion!
the Kroot in the trees get engaged by the Daemon Price, the 2 remaining Daemons also add their weight (and just want away from the Broadsides SMS) The Kroot break and are cut down by the Prince, but not before they take out the pesky Daemons.
The spawn runs round the trees and assaults the Deathrains, it takes a wound for it troubles in the resulting combat.
Turn 4 and time was getting short. The Devilfish sitting on the southwest corner moves north to sit on the ojective. The south Hammerhead sights the Daemons directly across from the tank at point E and with a flash and a woosh, the whole unit is vaped under a submunition round. The Fireknives try in vain to take down the Plague Marines but a combination of cover saves, normal saves and feel no pain mean only 1 dies.
The Smart Missile systems on the Devilfish and Broadsides wound the Prince, but he's still a threat. In close combat the Deathrains squash the spawn.
Dan tries to pop the Devilfish on the objective so he can contest with the Prince. I make my cover saves from the Obliterators and the Prince is only able to stun it. Due to clever positioning Dan can't contest. As he has to be off early the game is called. Another draw!
