1500 point list revisited

Ok so after reading up on a few more blogs and checking out some nice tactics and synergy between units i've decided to update my army list and will be rolling with the list below for my 1500 point games.

I've pretty much got everything assembled now, only really need to make up the remaining Devilfish and the 2 Heatwave-Forge suits. The "Heavy Arms" Crisis Suits are to be dropped as I've decided after doing test conversions I couldn't get the look I've wanted, so they're now just a regular Shas'ui unit used to help bolster the line where needed with burst cannons and missile pods.
The Firewarriors will use the Pathfinder Devilfishes. I'll probably start with one of these on the board to help guide down any deep striking units (the Heatwave-Forges most likely)

Nice looking list, I can see 2 potential problems based upon my past experiences.

1) minimum troop choices - with troops being vital to capture objectives in 5e only having 2 units on the table means your oponents may have a fairly easy time to take them out meaning that the best you can do is force a draw.

2) using the Pathfinder Devilfish - as you cannot start the game with your FW mounted inside the devilfish (as they are the Pathfinders dedicated transports) your FW will be a tad exposed with the potential that if you don't get to go first that you may lose one or both units in your opponents first turn (this did happen to me, not fun really!)

That said with the number of suit's you'll be running I think you may be giving your opponents alot more to worry about than taking out the FW's lol

Hmmmm, fair point about the Fire Warriors not being in the fishes, that worries me!

Bah, making a list when i've not played since 3rd Edition is not as easy as I remember!

Hi,

My solution to the fire warriors not being able to start in the pathfinder devilfish is to put the fire warriors in reservse and put the back of the pathfinder devilfish 7" from the table edge. The fire warriors can go straight into the devilfish when they come on. The turn the fire warriors come on they could be claiming an objective 27" away from your board edge (assuming the devilfish is 5" long).

My real worry with your list is stopping a fast army from getting to the crisis suit fire power, because they're weak against combat and melta weapons that people take to take on vehicles. The best Tau solution is kroot screens and pihranas to block their route. Both options give you at least an one extra turn of firing, and at short range that is normally all you need.

Your list is good, and the only place I think you could lose pts is downgrading the bodyguard to a elite squad (maybe also increasing them to models for a few extra pts), and changing the fusion suits (probably to 10 kroot some hounds).

It depends how much you use the increased firepower of the devilfish, but you could save some pts there. See how often the devilfish dies in kill point games, and whether it would have changed the result of the game if they were 2 kill points each. Dropping all the upgrades apart from the d.pod would save enough for 10 kroot.

Cheers for the feedback Rathstar. Not been able to actually try out the list yet as I can't get to my regular game club due to shifts. It's killing me as I wanted to try and get to the bigger UK tournaments this year.
