A: Ah Gun Drones are the sneaky lighting quick objective contestants of the Tau army. They can be a marvelous ace in the hole when you need to make that last turn push. With the Piranha move these bad boys can move a potential 32 inches (26 guaranteed) to contest something or get in the way of a tank (who in all fairness will likely just tank shock them) or troops. Here's how it works.
Drones are Jump Infantry (Jetpack) This means they have the same jump shoot jump ability of your Crisis Suits meaning a they can move 12 inches per turn. (6 in the movement, 6 in the assault) If you don't shoot, the Drones can run d6 just like every else can do in their shooting phase. The Piranha is a fast skimmer, so this little puppy can move 12 inches per turn.
Now the fun part and something key to remember when doing this with your Devilfish also. When Drones detach, the do so using the open top rules. This means they can be deployed 2 inches away from anywhere on the Devilfish or Piranha. Depending on how you're facing or where you need to go, this can give you a surprising good cover range.

If you're running Piranha's in a Squad of 2 or 3, all the Drones have to detach at the same time. They then form a unit of 4, or 6. You don't get 3 individual squads of 2 Drones.

It's pretty simple really. You simple turboboost into position. Because of the wide front of a piranha, you can slow your enemy down.
It helps to have markerlights in your army so that you can negate any cover saves conferred by your blocking piranhas.
Drones are used to block infantry, monstrous creatures and beasts from assaulting you other troops.
I always get these mixed up
Turboboost is for bikes and they get 3+
Flatout is why Piranha's would use because they're a vehicle and that's 4+
Is that right? And both go 24 inches with the unit being unable to shoot (or drones being unable to detach)
