Monday night batrep

Ok this isn't actually the battle report for tonight's game, mainly because I need to chill out and think about all the stuff that happened! It will be added later.  I played Iggy from Sword of Vaul tonight, stepping my army up to 1750 (1705 actually) so that he could get practice in for Gaelcon.  We agreed on Seize Ground (rolling for 4 loot counters/objectives) to let me see how a game like that works and to let him work out tactics. Deployment was standard set up, I won the roll and made Iggy set up first/go first... Surprise surprise he sat everything in reserve.

Match highlights and result to follow after the break!

It ended on turn 7 as a draw!

2 objectives were contested/no scoring units on them, and we held 1 each. (3 Firewarriors hiding in a Devilfish, and 2 Dire Avengers!)

Turn 2 Iggy brought on 7 skimmers. The Tau Crisis Suits tracked their flight paths and let loose with their missiles. 1 Fire Prism was immobilised and 3 Wave Serpents came crashing down! (I was delighted, Iggy looked like he was going to throw up!)

After being forced to walk for 2 turns, a squad of Fire Dragons eat the Broadsides and their drones for breakfast when all 5 hit and wound.

A Command Fireknife team assault a Wave Serpent that Iggy forgot to move. The resulting penetrating hit nearly wipes out everything that was in and around it.

An Autarch ties up a Firestorm squad in close combat for 3 turns before dying, (turns 5-7) denying them from providing vital covering fire to the units they were supposed to support.

The match went right down to the wire,  I almost snatched a win on turn 7 but Iggy had hidden his Dire Avengers well and I could only take the 3 survivors down to 2.  We pushed each other really hard and there wasn't a single turn were it looked like any 1 army had the advantage.  I'll try to make sure the report covers as much of the action as possible, I took some pictures of the terrain and objective locations on my phone.

I could have lost today and still I'd be smiling. It really was such an awesome and close game.
