New 1500 Army Lists (with plans to step up to 1750)

Soo, taking feedback from my last battles I've modified my list to be more shooty and include more guns! I know a screen might help so for expanding to 1750 I plan to add a 10 man Kroot Squad and another Hammerhead equipped the same as the current one in the list. I'll be honest I don't like the idea of sacrifice units if they're only there to get killed. If they take a target back in return fair enough but needless death when a target can be neutralised with focused firepower doesn't seem very Tau to me and I'm a bit put off using that tactic just yet.

HQ
Shas'el Commander Longshot
Twin Linked Missile Pod, Drone Controller with 2 Shield Drones

2 x Shas'vre Bodyguard
2 x Twin Linked Missile Pod, 2 x Targeting Array

Elites
3 man Helios Crisis team
3 x Fusion Blaster, 3 x Plasma Rifle, 3 x Multi Tracker

3 man Firestorm Crisis team
3 x Missile Pod, 3 x Burst Cannon, 3 x Multi Tracker

3 man Deathrain Crisis team
3 x Twin Linked Missile Pod, 3 x Target Array

Troops
6 man Firewarrior squad

6 man Firewarrior Squad
Devilfish Transport, Disruptions pods

Fast Attack
5 Pathfinders
Devilfish Transport, Marker Beacon, Disruption Pods

Heavy Support
Hammerhead Tank
Railgun, Burst Cannons, Multi Tracker, Disruption Pods

3 man Broadside Battlesuit team
3 x Target Lock, 1 team leader upgrade with drone controller and 2 shield drones

The new Helios team will help me deal with pesky marine type unit or can pop a tank if needed. Since I dislike loosing my Commander in any game, I've changed his unit from a Fireknife squad to a Deathrain Squad. My Command Unit and the Deathrains have BS4 for helping to make sure their Missiles hit home. The Firestorm can take down soft units or play it safe and sit back with the Missile Pods.
The Broadsides can split fire if required, using the Pathfinders to removing pesky cover saves.

I've never used helios but the should do well against MEQ or termies.

Even taking off the cost of the drones on the HQ they are very expensive deathrains. If you squeeze in the pts I put in a BS4 fireknife team.

You can lose 10 pts from the broadside team; you only need Target locks on 2 of them, so you can lose 1 and the team leader upgrade as the suit without the Target lock can have the drone controller as it's hard point gear.

To me the list looks good and should do well, I'd just like to see the HQ being fireknifes, particularly in the 1750 list. Against MEQ the helios will be targeted very early as the best MEQ killer and could do with some support to finish off full squads.

Hmm yeah, I should really work on a 1750 list from the ground up and not a "lets see what I can add to 1500"

That's a good point about the Helios team being prime targets for what they can do. I found in my previous matchs the opponents wanted the Broadsides down quick (Iggy seemed pretty terified of them!) due to their tank popping ability. (The match against the Space Wolves was fun basically ignoring the Smoke Launchers with Markerlight support hehe)

Looking forward to your Battle Reports from the weekend.
